Traffic Intelligence owns the licence for a technology developed by ITIS Holdings in the UK.

This licence covers Australia and New Zealand and provides for the generation and distribution of road traffic information. The technology is called Cellular Floating Vehicle data and collects raw data primarily from mobile phone networks and is supplemented by location information received from vehicles fitted with GPS tracking systems and traffic event descriptions.

Since 2006, Traffic Intelligence has been working with a major Australian Mobile Phone network and telecommunications provider to have the ITIS technology deployed within their network. The technology has also been successfully trialed in Sydney in 2006.

In conjunction with our partner, Traffic Intelligence will launch the first truly national Australian road traffic and travel time service by June 2009. The service will cover over 75,000 km of roadway and will be made available to governments, businesses and consumers, through either wholesale or direct channels.
